Core Gameplay

The core loop of Lucky Funatic is simple: tap the Joker in the center of the screen to earn Funz. Each tap costs 1 energy and yields Funz based on your Multi-Tap level (starting at 3 Funz per tap). Energy regenerates over time, so you'll always come back to a refilled gauge.

There are two ways to earn Funz: active tapping and passive income. Active tapping is the bread and butter -- you physically tap the Joker and watch your balance go up. Passive income comes from Story cards and ticks in the background even when you're not playing, though it caps out after a while. The interplay between these two systems is what drives the game forward: you tap to earn Funz, spend Funz on cards, and those cards earn Funz for you while you're away.

Tapping

Tapping is the most direct way to earn Funz. Every time you tap the Joker logo in the center of the screen, you spend 1 energy and receive Funz based on your current Multi-Tap level.

  • Base Funz per tap: 3 (increases with Multi-Tap booster, +1 per level)
  • Energy cost: 1 energy per tap
  • Joker drop: every tap has a 0.05% chance (1 in 2,000) to drop a Joker

The main screen shows your Funz balance prominently at the top (the silver chip icon with the number), your Joker count just below it (the colorful Joker chip), and the energy bar at the bottom left (the green lightning bolt showing e.g. "500 / 500"). The Joker logo in the center -- the big, grinning clown face -- is your tap target.

While tapping, there's also a small chance that a Frenzy Bonus Round will trigger (0.08% per tap). When that happens, you'll get a popup inviting you to play a balloon-popping minigame followed by a multiplied tapping session. More on that in the Frenzy section.

On the left side of the screen you can pull out a quick overview panel that shows all your currencies and stats at a glance:

This panel is handy for checking your Maxi/Mini tickets, Bond Bells, Baby/Lady Jokers, and total Funz without leaving the tapping screen.

Energy

Energy is your tapping fuel. When it runs out, you can't tap until it regenerates. This is the main gating mechanic that prevents infinite tapping and encourages you to come back periodically.

  • Maximum capacity: 500 (upgradeable via the permanent Energy Capacity booster, +100 per level up to 50 levels)
  • Regeneration rate: 1 energy per second (temporarily boostable to 2/sec with the Double Energy Refill Rate booster)
  • Passive reward cap: if you're away for more than 1.5 hours, passive income stops accumulating beyond that point

At the default rate, a full energy bar of 500 takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds to refill from empty. With the Energy Capacity booster maxed out (level 50), your max energy would be 5,500, taking about 1.5 hours to fully regenerate.

There are three temporary boosters that interact with energy: Double Energy doubles your max capacity for 30 minutes, Double Energy Refill Rate doubles the regeneration speed for 30 minutes, and Replenish Energy instantly fills your bar to max. All three are free but have cooldowns -- see the Boosters page for details.

Passive Income

You earn Funz passively from your Stories cards. Each card you own generates a certain amount of Passive Funz per Hour (PF/H). This income ticks even when you're not actively tapping, but caps out after 1.5 hours of inactivity -- so you'll want to check in at least once every 90 minutes to collect your earnings and reset the timer.

Your total passive income is shown in the top-right corner of the main screen (e.g. "+1.1K / H"). The actual Funz you receive per hour is your base PF/H multiplied by your Bonus Multiplier (see below).

For example, if your cards generate 1,100 PF/H and your Bonus Multiplier is 1.04x, your effective passive income is 1,144 Funz per hour.

To increase your passive income, head to the Stories tab and buy or upgrade cards.

Rank & Bonus Multiplier

Your rank is based on your total number of taps across your entire play history. As you tap more, you level up your Bonus Multiplier, which is a percentage increase applied to all your passive income. This means that active tapping doesn't just earn you Funz directly -- it also permanently boosts your idle earnings.

  • Multiplier starts at 1x (Level 1)
  • Each level adds +0.02x to the multiplier (so Level 2 = 1.02x, Level 10 = 1.18x, etc.)
  • Level thresholds start at 5,000 taps and increase in tiers:
    • Levels 1-5: every 5,000 taps
    • Levels 6-10: every 7,500 taps
    • Levels 11-15: every 10,000 taps
    • Levels 16-20: every 12,500 taps
    • Levels 21+: every 15,000 taps

Your current rank (e.g. "Acolyte Lv. 2") and progress toward the next level are shown in the top-left corner of the main screen. The orange progress bar labeled "BONUS MULTIPLIER" shows how many taps you need to reach the next level (e.g. "517 / 5K (TAPS)").

The Win Tab

The Win tab is your gateway to minigames and tournaments. Here you can see currently active games like Knife Catcher and Solitaire Slam, along with upcoming titles. The tab features eye-catching banners for each game that show whether they're live, coming soon, or have active tournaments.

Tapping on a game takes you to the Toy Box where you can launch the minigame. The Toy Box shows all available minigames side by side with Play buttons:

From here you can jump into a game and compete in tournaments. See the Tournaments page for details on how competitive play works.

Under the hood: Tapping is validated server-side with a maximum of 50 taps per request to prevent abuse. The API receives tap batches, validates energy availability, deducts energy, and credits Funz atomically. Passive income is calculated using Redis Lua scripts (apply_passive_income.lua) that run atomically to prevent race conditions during concurrent requests. The Lua script handles time delta calculation, multiplier application, and the 1.5-hour inactivity cap all in a single atomic operation.
